I'm Mika, a Bay Area-based Service Designer, researcher, design strategist and artist.

I welcome complexity.  

I have a knack for aligning and energizing teams, finding common ground between business and user needs, and traversing in and out of multiple altitudes of the user journey. My practice is based in an intuitive, perceptive, and adaptive approach. With experience building a new design function, mentoring teams, and acting as a Principal Service Designer at Twilio, I am not afraid to both lead or get deep in the weeds. 

Some fun facts about me:

• In my free time I like to paint! 

• When I need a break from screens, I woodwork at Maker and the Moose, my husband's business. We like to collaborate on the design of custom pieces.

• I consulted on experience strategy for some of the biggest thought leaders in animal sheltering, giving me a unique skillset in working with diverse groups, facilitating workshops for the civic space, and practicing strategic thinking with a sense of calm and balance in a high-stress, highly-emotional environment. I also ended up with two dogs of my own from this phase of my life! 

• I co-founded a coffee-technology company. We set out to build mini home roasters and ended up opening a roastery and running 3 coffee shops on Georgia Tech's campus and in downtown Atlanta for 3 years, until we merged with Docent Coffee
